Broke the stage 1 MT-82 D4 Calimer (bent input shaft while in gear making a hit) transmission on my Whipple 2018 Mustang and decided to rebuild it to the stage 3 (Gforce gear set). I opt’d for Calimer to send a crate (similar to the first time I used them) and it was smooth as expected (Houston based, 3 days to get the crate once the order was placed). The local FedEx Ground admin/front office in my area are lazy and kept insisting the crate w/ broken transmission isn’t allowed - so I had to schedule them to pickup at my house. MAKE SURE YOU HELP THE PICKUP PERSON! Kindness goes a long way and I had no issues with house pickup. I was fully prepared for the 8-10 week and unfortunately it took 12 weeks exactly. Normally I would take a star away/pressure but the front office/admin was very responsive and honest (keyword honest). Received the new transmission back as expected and reinstalled (on 6 ton jack stands lol) in two days. Stage 3 Gforce gears does have a slight whine to it but it is very much expected. I paired it with a McLeod RXT1200 26 spline (historically called RXTHD), SS clutch line, OEM Slave, MGW X-Spec (highly recommend due to the ability to split the shifter in half when removing/installing transmission), and DSS one piece aluminum driveshaft. It is very smooth during acceleration and only “quirk” I’ve noticed is high vibration when I let off throttle in 3rd gear (albeit everything is reinforced/“upgraded” on my car so NVH is expected). Below are my suggested improvement points for the Calimer team: 1) Provide a label bag on the outbound customer crate w/ broken transmission. This will allow the customer to print their label on printer paper, put it in a protected bag, and zip tie it to the transmission within the crate. 2) Don’t even suggest dropping the transmission off a FedEx ground on the website. Have the customer schedule pickup as it was a huge waste of time (all FedEx fault, zero fault of Calimer) to run to the ground location for the workers to turn you away. 3) Order status/tracking for customers. While it is already disclaimed prior to buying the service, I truly would have appreciated some sort of bi-weekly update OR a order numbers queue (privacy could be retained via email, name, and phone number confirmation if changes had to be made). Even if the news was “sorry another delay because of X”, I at least hear something.

Been using Calimer Transmissions personally and for my clients for around 8 years now. There isn’t a better transmission specialist, especially for the MT82, TR6060’s and Magnums around! They will have my continued business for years the come!

The only complaint was there were component delays that pushed the lead time out by another 4 weeks for my Stage 3 MT82. Besides that, it is an amazing transmission, it shifts so smooth and the gear ratio is perfect for boost, my car has a whipple and it makes power delivery much smoother than the stock ratios. I am sorry for those who are saying they've had a bad experience. This is literally the transmission, Ford's cheap penny pinchers should have put in from the factory.

Since talking to the head of calimer transmission Dylan Royer, I’ve gotten nothing but awful service. Had an issue with a partnership clutch they marketed and long story short I needed a refund. They worked out a “deal” to get me refund but did not contact me back so I ended having to call them multiple times before I got any kind of answer. And by the time I did get an answer from Dylan he told me it was “too late” and the time had already passed to get the refund and he’d be losing too much money now even though they were the ones to not contact me back on multiple occasions. After me calling back once again to get this resolved he hung up on me and told me I needed to email instead. Needless to say will never be dealing with this company again especially because of Dylan and don’t think anyone who is actually planning on using their equipment for what it’s intended for should as well.
