I have a 2009 RX350 with close to 250K original miles and recently had the CV axles and valve cover gaskets replaced. Both jobs were done well within a reasonable time and more importantly, within budget. Thanks!

I had a very troubling experience with Joey’s Garage in Chestertown, MD. My father passed away, and on the day of his funeral, his girlfriend who was not a legal heir and had no authority had my father’s classic vehicles removed from his residence. Joey’s Garage did not have any legal right or authorization to remove, store, or charge for these vehicles, yet they proceeded without verifying ownership or consent from the legal heirs. Joey then transported the vehicles to his personal residence, not a licensed or authorized storage facility, and stored them there without permission. At no point did he contact the legal heirs to discuss management, storage, or return of the vehicles. We later discovered he intended to sell the vehicles without titles or authorization, which is deeply concerning. When he was unable to do so, instead of returning the vehicles to the original residence and resolving the issue properly, he charged the legal heirs excessive storage fees of $350 per vehicle per month for four months. These charges were far higher than reputable, climate-controlled, secured storage facilities, which average around $215 per month, making this feel like price gouging for personal financial gain. The vehicles were stored at his personal home, not a professional facility. This entire situation occurred during an incredibly difficult time for our family and caused unnecessary emotional and financial hardship. Based on our experience, I strongly recommend others verify legal authorization, documentation, and business practices before working with Joey’s Garage. In response to your reply: I dispute your claim that you believed the vehicles were abandoned. You had the girlfriend’s contact information, the address where the vehicles belonged, and the residence phone number, yet you never sent a letter or made any attempt to contact the rightful heirs. You had no legal authorization to remove, store, or transfer these vehicles. They did not belong to you, and you had no rights to them. The eight-month period you reference was never documented in your records, and your fees are inconsistent with other local storage facilities. Your charges are unreasonable and excessive. The appropriate action would have been to return the vehicles to the rightful heirs once it was clear you had no authority to tow or sell them. Instead, you stored the vehicles on your personal residence without permission and continued charging the heirs substantial fees, despite knowing the vehicles could not be sold or legally held by you. Ethically, you should have verified whether the person who moved the vehicles had authorization and then returned the vehicles promptly, billing only the responsible party for the towing. You also had my contact information at all times, so your claim that you were unable to reach me is invalid.

Great place! My mom had a torn up tire and needed it replaced, they were very helpful and friendly. Had to go back for an oil change, very satisfied with their work! Also solid prices for their services. Highly recommended place!

Joey’s Auto Repair is a real stand-up repair shop. A busy place whose employees work hard to get you helped and back on the road asap. Whether it’s getting your car inspected or getting a repair done, in my experience their employees are kind, honest and charge reasonable prices for excellent service. Its location close to Washington College is great for college students as well. Any negative reviews you may see are probably from people who didn’t communicate what they wanted or don’t know what they’re doing.
