I’m sharing my experience so others can make an informed decision about this Pep Boys location (Sept–Oct 2025). I initially brought my car in due to a rattling sound under the hood. Pep Boys diagnosed failed engine mounts and replaced them. I began experiencing significant vibration and pulsation in the car. Over the next several weeks, I returned to this location four separate times seeking help. Each visit required me to miss work and rely on public transportation and Uber because I could not depend on my car. Despite providing videos documenting the vibration, my concerns were dismissed. One technician (Q) refused to view any of the videos and stated he would only look at what he could observe “in the moment.” When he finally witnessed the pulsation and vibration during a test drive, he placed his hands on my shoulder and laughed stating "I know cars. This is normal." The same technician also went in my trunk and discarded car parts without my consent. Upon inquiry, he stated that he believed those were the parts which were making noise. He never apologized for that. I do want to acknowledge that there were two employees (A and R) whose professionalism consistently stood out. The star is only for them. After Pep Boys repeatedly told me that “nothing was wrong,” the store manager suggested I take the car to the dealership. The dealership inspection confirmed my concerns and informed me that the aftermarket parts installed by the store were not performing correctly. They verified the vibration and pulsating I had been reporting and recommended replacing all engine and transmission mounts, including undoing Pep Boys’ previous work. The estimated cost of corrective repairs was substantial. I returned to Pep Boys with the dealership's finding, just as the store's manager (M) had instructed me to do. He had stated over a phone call that if the dealership finds issues related to the work his shop did, he will issue me a refund. When I visited the shop and informed him of the findings; providing the paper report, the first thing he said to me was "so, are they going to fix it?" He then changed the terms of the refund he had previously described. He stated I would need to return the parts before receiving any refund, a condition never mentioned earlier. He also declined to provide anything in writing. When I informed him that I needed a refund in order to proceed with the corrective work, he dismissed my concerns and stated that it was Pep Boys policy to first return the parts. Until today, he has never offered a single apology for everything I experienced at his store. His behavior was consistently apathetic, dismissive, and rushed. In this process, I contacted corporate and opened a case. While corporate responded promptly, every escalation ultimately looped back to the same store manager who had been dismissive and inconsistent from the beginning and who continued to ignore my concerns and frustrations. Despite corporate stating multiple times that “field leadership” would contact me, I never received a single follow-up call. I asked them numerous times in writing to clarify their refund policies, and they never directly addressed it, only stating that someone in leadership would contact me. Because the issue was not resolved, I called a few other shops; I only had to describe the symptoms for them to diagnose the issue. I showed the dealership ONE video for them to immediately tell me "that is not normal." I ultimately had to pay another shop to fix the problem properly before returning the parts to recieve my refund. I hope this review helps future customers understand what to expect regarding service quality, accountability, and follow-through at this location. I desire to report this store location/manager to a higher authority outside of corporate as many more things happened. If anyone has any ideas for next steps, please let me know. The leadership at this location, along with its practices, represents an absolute disservice to the community it is meant to serve. Thank you.

Not only was I overcharged by a good $80, they completely forgot to install the wiper blades and now I'm driving my kids to school with windshield wiper fluid all over the glass because these idiots can't do what they've been paid for. how difficult is it to remember it's on the freaking invoice?

I had an 11am appointment to have 4 tires replaced. I arrived at 10:45am. The price I was quoted online was not the price I was quoted in the store. I was told it would take about 2 hrs to change all 4 tires and complete a wheel alignment. It took well over 5 hours. I will never be back to this location again. Why set a time and be so grossly inaccurate. Additionally, the customer service was horrible and they were non-responsive. Instead of apologizing for the delay they attempted to make excuses about other patrons having their car ahead of mine. Well when I brought my car into the store there were only 3 people ahead of me in the store and the representative said it would take 2 hours- not 5. Again, horrible experience

I made the appointment weeks in advance and the belt needed for service was not at the location. I was not informed it had to be ordered and delivered prior to work starting on my vehicle and that I would need to wait for it to arrive. Instead of being given the option of if I wanted to wait for the part to arrive or not, they just let me sit there for hours. After asking the first time, I was told they’d start on it shortly. After asking again, that’s when I was told it’d be atleast another 45minutes and the manager told me he assumed someone already told me. This is not the first incident I have had at this location. The manager there has ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE. And tried to charge me for my brake pads even though they were covered under warranty. I had to go up to the counter twice to get them removed.

I am not happy with my experience at the Landover Hills Pep Boys. I came in for a basic service. I had all 4 tires replaced and an alignment. My truck is now shaky and I’ve been given the run around trying to get them to address the issue. I’ve been here multiple time for hours each time only for my vehicle to not even get looked at. I’m here for the third time hoping for a resolution. I will NEVER bring my vehicle for service here again and would NOT recommend. Highly dissatisfied customer. Update: On my 3rd or 4th time returning, they finally check their work and adjusted the balance which resolved the shaking issue. Although I wasn't satisfied with my experience, I did want to share that the problem was ultimately resolved.
