Grateful for the way Roy’s helped me navigate fixing my truck when it wouldn’t start. They were responsive and communicative from our first phone call to me picking up the truck. I did end up having to bring the truck back when the starter was intermittent but they made repairs under their parts and labor warranty. I’m not upset about having to bring it back because engines have dozens of systems and hundreds of moving parts, and at the end of the day, no one perfect. That they immediately fixed the issue at no additional cost is the take-away here folks. I feel like I can trust them and will be bringing my truck to them in the future. Thanks Roy and Shannon!

My experience here was not great. We were camping at Rocky Gap. As we backed our small camper into our camping site, we heard a grinding in the brakes only when reversing. My husband took a look at the rear brakes - at the time, we suspected they were the culprit - and couldn’t determine the source. We decided to take it to a local mechanic. Roy seemed very nice and was very quick about everything. They did a brake inspection, taking off all tires - this is important - and then advised my husband we needed a full rear brake job of rotors and pads. My husband agreed and paid. Our truck is old, we are used to repairs, and it was money well spent to continue our trip. He also noted our e-brake needed work. We declined that and opted to wait for our mechanic at home for that job. My husband left with the truck, all seemed good… and then he backed up and heard the same grinding. We immediately returned to Roy’s and after another cursory inspection were advised our CV joints both needed replacing at another hefty price. This was completely out of the blue but we were desperate and decided to proceed and scheduled for the next day. When we returned to our camping activities my husband called our trusted mechanic who was mystified by the rear brake job (he’s worked on our car several times in the past year) and the CV joint. Neither of these problems should usually cause grinding noise solely in reverse. He advised us to just enjoy our vacation and handle it at home. We did not return to Roy’s for the CV joints after hearing our mechanic’s thoughts on the situation. However, we did end up coming home a day early to limit the amount of strain on our truck in hilly MD and WV. When we returned home, my husband popped the front wheels off and a VERY cursory inspection by him, a YouTube mechanic, revealed something between the brake pad and rotor. When he went further to inspect later that day, he removed one caliper bolt and the caliper fell off. The caliper bolt was missing which misaligned the caliper and allowed gravel from the camp site to get stuck between the pad and rotor. This ground a groove in the rotor. Roy’s had my wheels off and did their inspection, and somehow, they missed this. I fully acknowledge my husband went in there fairly sure it was a rear brake issue and this may have informed their decisions. However, they DID inspect all brakes and did not find this issue which was a safety issue and a major stressor. Roy’s declined to offer any refund of their fees, which is fair. We drove off with new rear brake pads and rotors and that work appears to have been completed in standard manner. However, we feel pretty strongly that this shop does not stand by the accuracy of their inspections and work, and that shows a lack of integrity. I understand the mechanic who did the inspection work deserves payment for his time. But it feels like this shop took advantage of us as a traveling family, and that is a bummer. This is our yearly “big” family trip as parents of six with a grandchild on the way. Every penny counts. But we will chalk this up to an expensive lesson and hope that this shop will be more careful in their inspections in the future. Edit: Roy’s claims they have it on video that they did not remove my front tires or inspect the front brakes which conflicts with the information I have available. Roy, feel free to reach out to us to provide this video footage! Upon receipt of proof of this, I would be happy to modify this review. I do question why you wouldn’t inspect all four brakes given the information you were provided at the time of the repair, but that’s just me. We never expected a full rebuild, we just naively expected that the mechanic we visited with good reviews would be as thorough as our own mechanic, who would never allow a customer to drive off his property with the same issue they came in with still occurring. Your snarky and condescending tone on display here is why I even left this review in the first place as this mirrors how you spoke to us on the phone.

Our family was on our way to WV with our 35’ camper in tow. Our 3500 dually was overheating up every hill. We called Roy’s from the side of 68 in a panic. They said they’d take a look right away, and they did. We dropped our camper at Rock State and took our truck to Roy’s. He diagnosed the issue immediately by looking under the hood and knowing how engine should work, not by the computer. He gave my husband sound advice and we took the truck back into him the next day. He graciously gave my husband a ride back to our family at the campground. He originally thought it was one issue but after working on it, found a much less expensive problem. He could have replaced the more expensive part and charged a lot more money but instead was an honest and fair guy. We really appreciate Roy’s kindness and even though our plans got rerouted, we are super grateful we took the truck to him to get fixed.

My car broke down on I-68 and after having to stay in a hotel and get towed to the shop the next day, Roy took me right in. Unfortunately my engine went caputs, but Roy and his team were incredibly helpful and kind. He explained the entire process to me and I appreciated his transparency. Shannon was so kind as well, and made a really bad experience so much better. One of the mechanics checked on us and made sure we got where we needed to go, which made a bad day much better. My car might be gone forever, but perhaps it was the friends that we made along the way :-)

Had a dead battery that was difficult to get to so battery retailers couldn't change it. Asked Roy if he could, if we brought battery over to him. It was at the end of the day on Friday and my options were running out to get the car fixed before everyone closed for the weekend. Thankfully Roy was able to do it right away! And he did it for a great price!
