I really want to be able to recommend Anwar and PBC Carbone, but after dealing with them over several years I just can’t. My first suspension job went fine, but once I started having serious issues with my engine my experience became extremely frustrating and expensive.I have gone through at least four engines with this shop. I paid to have my original engine fixed, that went bad, and then I spent over $4,000 for what was supposed to be a good replacement engine. Over the course of well over a year none of them lasted. The first one alone took about 9 months to get in and finished. Each engine developed leaks, burned oil, or began making noise within a month or two. This was after I had already paid several thousand dollars to have my original engine repaired (including seal replacements and addressing leaks). After the first engine repair the car was returned to me with the oil freshly topped off and I was told everything had been fully checked and was good to go. I trusted the work enough to immediately take it to Tail of the Dragon, and it failed and left me stranded (see photo). That ended up being the pattern: I would be told the car was completely sorted, and within a short time the dipstick would run dry, it would start making noise, or another major issue would appear. I also had a clutch replaced. It stopped working about a week after it was installed, and I had to pay more money to have him add another part and fix it. Communication was a constant source of frustration. Countless times I was told “don’t worry, we’ll call you right back,” and I never got a call or a text. I always had to be the one to follow up — if I didn’t keep calling, nothing moved. He is communicative when you do get him on the phone or in person and does seem knowledgeable, but almost every time it was the same: • went over the promised/quoted maximum price • no updates unless I got on him • took longer than promised • said the car was completely good to go, then it needed more money or came back with the same problem After sinking more money into this car than it was worth, I eventually had to buy a Civic to get around. No warranty was given for this last engine, it has failed again, and I’m left fixing it myself. For small jobs this shop may be fine. For major engine work I would strongly recommend going elsewhere. Reply: When I picked up the car after the initial engine repair I was told there were no issues and that the oil had been topped off. I did a quick check of the dipstick and it looked low, but since I had literally just been told by the mechanic that it was full, I assumed I had done something incorrectly. I also did not have the time or ability to source engines myself. From the beginning it was made clear that the shop would be handling that and that a good replacement engine would be found, which is why I relied on them to do so. To clarify, “choosing not to proceed” would have meant spending thousands of dollars for a third engine, which was not financially realistic.

Came in as a first-time customer for new tire installation on my BMW 5 Series and opted for a comprehensive inspection of my car while they were at it. Tires were mounted and balanced without issue and they even waived additional costs on the inspection. This shop's customer service is exceptional and they definitely keep their customers' best interest in mind. They broke down the condition of my car and were able to identify an oil related issue without pushing for any unnecessary additional services. They gave me a detailed explanation of the issue, anticipated services, and suggested solutions that would minimize costs on my end. This staff is personable, professional, and genuine. Give them a shot if you're in the area!

Got an alignment done by Anwar and I’m really happy with the results. He took the time to dial everything in properly and explain the numbers. You can tell he actually cares about getting it right. Highly recommend if you want it done properly.
