I brought my Subaru Outback in today for a routine oil change and state safety inspection. The vehicle failed inspection due to aftermarket LED headlights not meeting the halogen requirement. While I understand that regulations must be followed, what was frustrating is that this same issue had passed inspection at this dealership in previous years, so I didn't even think that this could be an issue. What truly disappointed me was the lack of customer service. I have been a repeat customer for service visits, yet there was no effort to offer a reasonable or customer-friendly solution—such as lower-cost bulb options (I was quoted $70 per bulb) or even a small goodwill gesture for a loyal customer. Additionally, the complimentary car wash—something that is consistently marked as “completed”—was once again not done. If this service is not reliably provided, it should not be advertised. My interaction with Elmer was also disappointing. The communication felt dismissive and lacked courtesy or understanding. A more professional and empathetic approach would have made a significant difference in how this situation was handled. Based on this experience, I will be taking my business elsewhere for both service and future vehicle purchase.
