I recently visited Virginia Tire & Auto in Gainesville for a state inspection, and despite the long wait, the experience really stood out in the best way. There was quite a line that day—about two and a half hours of waiting due to only one tech on duty. But let me tell you, the team handled it like champs. The manager, Sam, came out personally to explain the situation to everyone waiting. He was super friendly, patient, and really made the effort to keep folks informed and calm. It’s a thankless task sometimes, but Sam did a fantastic job setting the tone. And then there was Happy, the lone tech who was working that day. He absolutely lived up to his name! Even though he was the only one handling inspections, he never stopped smiling and was incredibly patient and helpful with every single customer. After he finished my inspection, he even took a few moments to chat about my 2004 Mustang and gave me some extra tips just because he genuinely cared. In short, despite the wait, the service was top-notch. The team went above and beyond, and Happy’s attitude really made the whole experience a positive one. I’d definitely recommend them for their outstanding customer service!

Got my car inspected today! Only 3 cars in line at month end. :) Happy up there always is such a pleasure, I will always take my car there as long as he's there. Thanks VT&A for being rockstars!

As a Virginia Tire member, this was the first (and last) time using this location. I made an appointment for an oil change, tire rotation, and inspection. I arrived early, checked in, and was told it would be 60-90 minutes. When I returned 1 hour later, they had not even started. The man at the counter said “We meant it’s an hour to an hour and a half from when we pull it in the bay.” When I asked what was going to be done to correct the situation, I was met with shrugged shoulders. I only gave 1 star because there was no option for zero stars. PS I have had GOOD experiences at the Bristow and Centreville locations.

Finally found an honest mechanic! Happy (yes that’s his real name - and what a cool name!) was very professional and educated me on all recommendations suggested for my failed inspection. He took his time to show me all the issues with my car and explained why I have these issues and everything I need done to get them fixed. Although it can be tough to face any large expense when it comes to repairs, in the end I feel it was all necessary as I saw all the issues myself. I trust in his expertise and am confident my vehicle will be as good as new when all issues are addressed. Sam, please give this guy a raise! This is the honest mechanic we were all searching for!

Don’t even deserve a star! Customer service was disappointing. Employees came across as rude and not very helpful. It felt like they were taking advantage of customers who may not know much about vehicle maintenance, rather than explaining issues honestly or offering guidance. Overall, not a trustworthy experience. Will not be returning and have already found far more reliable and helpful service at Piedmont Tire & Auto.
